    Pokemon Red and Green (Japan)/Pokemon Blue (North America and Europe)

    Pokemon Red and Green (Japan)/Pokemon Blue (North America and Europe): Released in 1996/1998 for Game Boy, these were the first Pokemon games ever created, and they introduced the concept of catching, training, and battling Pokemon.

    Pokemon Yellow

    Pokemon Yellow: Also released for Game Boy in 1998, Pokemon Yellow was an updated version of Red and Blue, featuring Pikachu as the player’s starting Pokemon and following the plot of the Pokemon anime series.

    Pokemon Gold and Silver

    Pokemon Gold and Silver: Released for Game Boy Color in 1999/2000, these games introduced 100 new Pokemon, a real-time clock system, and the ability to breed Pokemon.

    Pokemon Crystal

    Pokemon Crystal: Another Game Boy Color release in 2000, Pokemon Crystal was an enhanced version of Gold and Silver, featuring improved graphics, new story elements, and the ability to choose the player’s gender.

    Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire

    Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire: Released for Game Boy Advance in 2002/2003, these games introduced 135 new Pokemon and new gameplay features, including double battles and Pokemon abilities.

    Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen

    Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen: Another Game Boy Advance release in 2004, FireRed and LeafGreen were enhanced remakes of Red and Blue, featuring updated graphics, new features, and compatibility with the wireless adapter.

    Pokemon Emerald

    Pokemon Emerald: Also released for Game Boy Advance in 2004, Pokemon Emerald was an enhanced version of Ruby and Sapphire, featuring a new Battle Frontier facility, improved graphics, and the ability to catch both Kyogre and Groudon.

    Pokemon Diamond and Pearl

    Pokemon Diamond and Pearl: Released for Nintendo DS in 2006, these games introduced 107 new Pokemon, online multiplayer functionality, and the ability to trade Pokemon using the Global Trade Station.

    Pokemon Platinum

    Pokemon Platinum: Another Nintendo DS release in 2008, Pokemon Platinum was an enhanced version of Diamond and Pearl, featuring a new story, improved graphics, and new features, including the ability to battle and capture the legendary Pokemon Giratina.

    Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver

    Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver: Released for Nintendo DS in 2009, these games were enhanced remakes of Gold and Silver, featuring updated graphics, new features, and compatibility with the Pokewalker accessory.

    Pokemon Black and White

    Pokemon Black and White: Another Nintendo DS release in 2010, Pokemon Black and White introduced 156 new Pokemon, new battle mechanics, and the ability to battle and trade with other players using the new C-Gear.

    Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee

    Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee: These are remakes of the original Pokemon Yellow game, released for the Nintendo Switch in 2018. The games feature updated graphics and mechanics, and allow players to capture Pokemon by throwing Poke Balls using motion controls.

    Pokemon Sword and Shield

    Pokemon Sword and Shield: Released in 2019 for the Nintendo Switch, these games are set in the Galar region and feature a new generation of Pokemon to capture and train. They also introduce the Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics, which allow Pokemon to grow to massive sizes in battle.

    Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

    Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl: These are upcoming remakes of the original Pokemon Diamond and Pearl games, set to be released for the Nintendo Switch in late 2021. The games feature updated graphics and mechanics, and allow players to revisit the Sinnoh region and capture new Pokemon.

    Pokemon Legends: Arceus

    Pokemon Legends: Arceus: Set to be released for the Nintendo Switch in early 2022, this game is set in the feudal-style Hisui region and takes place in a time period before the events of other Pokemon games. It features an open-world style of gameplay and introduces new mechanics, such as the ability to sneak up on Pokemon and catch them without battling.
